KEEGAN UPDATE : 9 WEEKS ON : 8 JUNE 2009

Keegan’s mother and father swapped places this week – Sally is back at Falcon College for a short while, the first time she has been home since the accident.  Adrian has returned to Johannesburg to be with Keegan again.

Keegan’s progress remains slow but steady.    It seems he is now close to entering the rehab. phase - with dieticians, occupational therapists, speech therapists and physiotherapists all now getting involved.

It is becoming increasingly apparent that he is going to need care for at least as long as originally anticipated – ie this could mean years rather than months.

The Trust’s objectives remain unchanged:  firstly, to ensure that he receives whatever treatment is required and that money can buy;   secondly, that the Langley family is not left destitute once the treatment has been completed.

Significant progress has been made on facilitating travel for the family between Bulawayo and Johannesburg , with substantial discounts and even donations of return tickets.    These gestures are hugely appreciated.

Meanwhile, progress on fundraising continues to amaze.    In the past week the figure raised to date has moved from $98,000 to $120,000.    Numerous new initiatives are in the pipe-line, some already in progress (eg raffles, collections etc) whilst others planned for the longer term, for example early next year.

This past weekend marked the start of an exercise to raffle a buffalo hunt valued at over $25,000, which has been generously donated.   250 tickets are on sale at $250 per ticket.   Further details are on our web site.

In Bulawayo , the Jake White and Eddie Jones weekend is now four days away, and this also promises to be a major fundraiser.

So many people are working so hard at all of this, the experience is both rewarding and humbling.

So please keep that support rolling on, we continue to lean on our ‘friends in need…..’   You really are true ‘….friends indeed.’    Thank you all so much.

UNTIL NEXT WEEK………….
