KEEGAN UPDATE : FOUR WEEKS ON : 3 MAY 2009
Another week gone. Have we perhaps reached the first of many turning points?
This week has seen efforts to gradually reduce Keegan’s medication. He has responded with very slight movement, but remains on reduced levels of sedation and adrenalin. The risk of infection continues to rank high on the agenda.
Ade, Drew and Bryn (Keegan’s Dad and two younger brothers) returned to Falcon yesterday, where the new term opens today. Sally remains with Keegan, and Ade will no doubt return shortly, as soon as the two boys are settled again in school.
Pledges and messages of support continue to flow in from around the world. Thank goodness for the internet, e mails, face book et al. The publicity already achieved has been fantastic. 1500 hard copies of our appeal document have been received ‘gratis’ from a Bulawayo company, and these are being distributed throughout Zimbabwe, in gymnasiums, sports clubs, doctors’ waiting rooms, etc.
We do not have precise figures on contributions received, but it is encouraging to report that the Trust Account in Johannesburg has been able to fund the required payment to Milpark Hospital this week – R150,000.
By the end of next week we should have some accurate figures on contributions to date, and also a report back on the events planned in Harare for Friday and Bulawayo for Saturday.
So please keep the momentum going – continue to publicise this noble cause, and let’s look forward to being able to say: ‘We did it!’
So from the Langley family and members of the Trust, once again, our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all you incredible people for standing with us.
UNTIL NEXT WEEK…….
